Privacy, disclaimer & affiliate disclosure
Plain-English versions of how we handle your information, how to use our specs safely, and how PartSpec makes money.
Last updated: October 21, 2026Affiliate disclosure
Many of the "Buy" and "Shop" links on PartSpec are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, the store may pay us a small commission. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or not.
Commissions never decide what we recommend. The oil, filters and parts we list come from your car's manufacturer specifications, not from which store pays more.
We may participate in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates, Walmart, and auto-parts retailers through networks like Impact and CJ. Each store's own terms, pricing, shipping and return policies apply to your purchase. We don't sell parts ourselves.
PartSpec is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any automaker or retailer. Brand and model names are used only to identify vehicles and belong to their owners.
Specs disclaimer
We build PartSpec from manufacturer maintenance information and published lubricant application data, and we work hard to keep it accurate. Even so, carmakers change engines and parts mid-year, regional models differ, and mistakes can happen. Some model years show typical specs for that generation and are marked "confirm in manual."
- Check the oil grade, approval and capacity in your owner's manual or on the oil filler cap.
- Use the store's fit check with your VIN when buying parts.
- After an oil change, check the dipstick or oil level display rather than relying on the listed capacity alone.
- If you're not comfortable doing the work, use a qualified mechanic.
PartSpec provides information only. It isn't professional mechanical advice. You're responsible for how you use it and for any work you do on your vehicle. To the fullest extent allowed by law, PartSpec isn't liable for damage, injury or loss resulting from using information on this site.

Privacy policy
This policy explains what information PartSpec ("we") collects when you use our website, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
- What you type into searches: VINs, years, makes and models, so we can show your parts. VIN lookups are sent to the U.S. government's free NHTSA decoder to identify the vehicle. A VIN identifies a vehicle, not a person, and we don't link it to your name.
- What you send us: your name, email, optional car details and message when you use the contact form.
- Usage data: pages visited, links clicked, device and browser type, and approximate location, collected through analytics tools.
How we use it
- To show the right parts and maintenance schedule for your car.
- To answer your questions and act on feedback.
- To understand which cars and features people use, and to improve the site.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
We don't sell your personal information.
Cookies and third parties
We use service providers to run the site, such as hosting, analytics and a contact-form service. When you click an affiliate link, the store (for example Amazon or Walmart) may set its own cookies to credit the sale to us. Their privacy policies cover what they collect.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, and we'll honor them as the law requires. Contact us through the Help page or at tkolt24@gmail.com.
Children
PartSpec isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
